Dental Abscess 101

Posted .

A dental abscess is a dental issue that can severely harm your tooth and alter your oral health. It usually forms when there is an opening in the tooth enamel (which typically occurs when you fail to treat a cavity or experience a dental trauma) and the bacteria enter the opening and infect the core of the tooth. This can cause major swelling and infection in the tooth and gums.

The symptoms of an abscessed tooth typically include:

-A severe and continuous pain in the tooth and gums

-A fever

-Pain when chewing

-Tooth sensitivity when consuming hot or cold foods and drinks

-A bitter taste in the mouth

-Bad breath

-A swollen neck

-Sickness

-Redness and swelling in the gums

-A swollen jaw

-An open and draining sore on the gum tissue

If you experience these symptoms, it’s important to call A. Agustin Vega at 360-943-5551 right away and schedule an appointment with Dr. A. Agustin Vega.
